Arch Bishop Dr George Panikulam (1942) was ordained a diocesan priest in the year 1967. After a short service
in a parish and Aluva Seminary he went to Rome in the year 1968 for higher
studies. There he obtained degrees in 'Religious Studies' from Gregorian University and in Canon Law from the Oriental Institute and a Doctorate in the New Testament from the Biblical Institute. On completion of a four year training programme in diplomacy in the Vatican Academy of Diplomacy he served as secretary in the Vatican embassies of Canada, Venasuvela and Germany.From 1990to 1999, Heserved as a permanant observer to holysee in UNO,Newyork.on 1999 december 10, he consecrated as archbishop.and appointed as appostolic nuncio of Honduras.after 4 yrs of service he is appointed as appostalic nuncio of mozamique. Now He is serving as appostalic nuncio of Ethiopia,djibouty,somalia&observer to african national congress. He was conferred the title of 'Monsignor' by his holiness, the pope In the year 1980.
He has been entrusted to the position of the Deputy Head of the Missions in Vatican in which capacity he will be co-ordinating the activities of about 700 missions dioceses situated in different parts of the world. MSGR Dr. George Panikulam is proficient in the western languages of English, Italian, German, French and Spanish. He is the author of 5 books and several articles in English and Malayalam.
