The Panikulam family has a tradition, attached to its establishment at North Parur in the former Travancore State. Joseph a member of the ancient Panikulam stock at Moozhikulam fell out with the local 'Naduvazhi' and shifted to North Parur in the year 1750. He bought a plot of Ian at Pazhayangadi 'and built his new home there. This house gave rise to another family name "Puthenveettil". Later on, Joseph sold this property and bought another in the south where he made his house. Since then this family has come to be known as "Thekkeputhenveedu". The branches of the Panikulam family have now spread over to Ambazhakad {Vynthala} Kattoor, and many other places. |
