Born on 2nd Sep 1942, the eldest of 11 children to Mr. Joseph George Panikulam & Mrs Kunjilakutty Joseph. Graduated as Electrical Engineer in 1966 from Kerala University (Mar Athanasious Engineering College, Kothamangalam). Held the following positions :

1967 - Apprentice Engineer at Kerala Stae Electricity Board

1968 - Apprentice Engineer at Cochin Port Trust

1969 - Commissioned in the rank of Captain in the Corps of Electrical & Mechanical Engineers (E.M.E) under Short Service Commission in Indian Army. Participated in 1971 action against Pakistan on the North-East war front in Kashmir.

1977 - Deputed to the Govt. of Libya as Senior Project Manager under Electricity Corporation, Bengazi, worked as Director, Tobruk Power & Desalination Station.

1982 - Joined Asea Brown Boveri (ABB) at Mannheim, Germany, and assigned as their Overseas Project Manager, worked at several Thermal Electrical Power Plant projects at Abu Dhabi, Dubai, etc.

1990 - Joined Dubai Government Services as Chief Electrical Engineer at Dubai Ports & Free Zone Authority and worked there until retirement at the age of 60 in 2002.

After retirement settled at the ancestral home "Palm Villa', at Kattoor.

Married Marina (daughter of Mr. Geo paul Padathiparambil & Mrs. Mary Paul Tharayil) in 1971 and have three children, Elizabeth (presently aged 34), Joseph (aged 32) and Paul (aged 26). Elezabeth and Joseph are married and settled down in the USA. Paul, still a bachelor, having passed BE & MBA , is working for M/s.Idea Telecommunication Corporation as their Service Manager, at Cochin.

 
Activities / achievements
Winner of Panikulam Family Association logo competiotion, (present Panikulam logo is a slightly modified adaptation of the original winning entry designed by him.

Winner of several War Service Medals having seen action in the North-East War Theatre in the 1971 conflict with Pakistan.

Life Member of the Institue of Engineers, India,(Electrical Branch)

Corporate Member of the Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineers (IEEE), U.S.A.

Founder Member of the Regency Club, Trichur.

Founder President of the UAE Chapter of Mar Athanasius Engineering College Alumni.

Author of several techincal articles in engineering magazines like 'The World Of Enginnering' (U.A.E) and Technical Journal of Corps of E.M.E.

Widely travelled in the USA, Europe and the Middle East.
