Rev.Fr. Cruz, was born on 8th July 1881; on completion of his studies in the Kandy Papal Seminary he was ordained priest on 14th December 1909. He had been at Pooyya, Irinjalakuda, Kandasankadavu, Manaloor, Parappoor, Parappookkara and Puthukkad Churches as Vicar; Rector in the Petit Seminary of the Trichur Diocese and Chaplain in the West Chalakudy Clarist Convent and Carmelite Monastery at Ollur. Fr. Cruz took an instinctive and keen interest in the development and organisation of cottage industries and had esablished two industrial institutions attached to his Convent at Ollur. Of these two the Chief one was a Silk Industry. He passed away on 9-7-1948.
