When he was Vicar of the Malayattoor Church he obtained from the Government 4 cents of land at the Kurisumalai Hill and erected at his own expense a splendid shrine and put up in it a beautiful statue of St. Thomas to commemorate his Sacerdotal Silver Jubilee, on Sunday 9th January, 1938. This Jubilee day was a red-Ietter day in the annals of the place and the ceremonies were conducted with great pomp and splendour.
The silver jubilee celebrations began with a Pontifical High Mass by Ittooppachan assisted by four priests of the Panikulam Family. In the afternoon after the Benediction of the Blessed Sacrament, the parishioners held a Meeting with Rev. Msgr. Joseph Panjikkaran in the chair to congratulate Ittoopachen.
His grace Dr. Augustine Kandathil Archbishop of Ernakulam blessed the Jubilee Commemoration shrine and statue, assisted by a large gathering of church dignitaries and priests, including vicar General Msgr, George Valiarampeth, Msgr.
