Francis, after serving in the Army and the Madras Medical service, settled at Parur Francis (Porinju) 14-5-1888 married Annamma (August 1900) daughter of Sri. Lonan and Elamma of Puthanangadiparambil family, Mulamthuruthy on 8th January 1913. It is specially noteworthy that the wedding ceremony was solemnised by his elder brother Rev.Fr. Joseph (Valia Ittooppachan) on the same day the latter said his first Coram Pontific solemn High Mass, which is a unique event. It may also be mentioned that on the Silver Jubilee of these events the first book of the History of Panikulam Family, was published entirely by the efforts of late Rev.Fr. Joseph Panikulam (Ittooppachan).
After .graduation Francis went to Madras took his M.B.B.S. degree served in the last great war as a captain in the I.M.S. and was stationed at Bangalore until he was sent overseas to Salonika. After Armistice he was stationed at Constantinople for 5 years on Military Service. On his return to India he was appointed Assistant Surgeon in the General Hospital, Madras. He was fortunate to visit Rome twice and on both occasions had audience with H.H. Pope Pius XI and received his Apostolic Blessing. Dr. P. V. Francis has also visited the holy cities of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Nazareth etc. He was in London for a year to specialise in anaestaesia and was the anaesthetist specialist and Senior assistant Surgeon in the General Hospital, Madras. He was granted the Diploma, D.AR.C.P .5. (England) by the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons. Dr. and Mrs. Annamma Francis had four sons and five daughters. Kunjuvareed (Vava), Elizabeth (Kunjamma), Mary (Ammini), Bridget Regina (Thangam), Kochu Thresia (Cherupushpam), Rose (Shantha), Joseph (died in infancy) Joseph and John.
Dr.Francis, after retirement as Civil Surgeon from Madras Medical Services settled down in N.Parur taking rest and engaged himself in various family, social and philanthrophic activities. He was the founder President of the St. Vincent De-Paul, Society attached to the St.Germane's Church N.Parur. He wlas the first President of the Alwaye-Parur Branch of the Indian Medical Association. Again he was the Director and finally Chairman of the Federal Bank Ltd, for a number of years. By his congenial manners and affable disposition he endeared himself to all those with whom he came into contact. Mrs. Annamma Francis expired on 27 -1-1963 at the age of 63 and Dr. Francis expired on 9th March 1970 at the age of 82.
