Joseph, the eldest son of Kunjuvareed and grandson of Ittoop of the main family at Parur, married Kunjila, d/o Kunjipaloo and Kunjaram of Alappatt family and settled at Kattoor. After marriage he joined the English High School at Calicut for higher education. However, he could not complete it. He was recalled home due to the ill health of his father-in-Iaw who insisted upon Joseph to remain with him and look after the family affairs. Kattoor was very backward in education at that time. Many people visited joseph just to hear him read and speak English. Joseph decided to dedicate himself for the development of Kattoor village and he very much succeeded in his aim. It can be said that he was the architect of modern Kattoor. He was deeply religious and philanthrophic and a lover of education. He sowed the seed of Pompei St. Mary's School. |
